What is a manual wind watch?

Manual watches do not wind themselves. They have no rotor, so they need to be wound by hand — usually once per day at the same time — to keep running.

02

How to wind it safely

  1. 1Remove the watch from your wrist.
  2. 2Keep the crown in the winding position.
  3. 3Turn the crown slowly clockwise.
  4. 4Stop when you feel firm resistance.
  5. 5Never force the crown past resistance.

Unlike automatics, manual watches can be overwound. Stop the moment you feel firm resistance.

03

Setting the time

  1. 1Pull the crown out to the time-setting position.
  2. 2Turn the hands to the correct time.
  3. 3Push the crown fully back in.

Tips for daily care

Wind it at the same time each day for the most consistent accuracy. Wind off the wrist to avoid sideways pressure on the crown stem.
